About CLAAS

For high throughput.

PICK UP 4500 / 3800 / 3000.

Maximum performance.

Very high yields and increasingly powerful forage harvesters call for the best pick-up technology and greater throughput. The new PICK UP series with the 4500, 3800 and 3000 models meets these requirements with an impressive array of characteristics.

Special strengths.

  • Low-wear cam track mechanism
  • No chain drives
  • Hydraulically powered pre-compression applied by the intake auger enables very high throughput
  • Ideal ground contour adaptation
  • Automatic speed adjustment
  • Twin roller crop press for optimum crop flow
  • Hydraulic auger elevation for optimum accessibility when searching for foreign objects
  • Maintenance-friendly click-lock system secures light plastic tine scrapers

NEW

PICK UP.

New, low-wear cam track mechanism.

The new PICK UP series dispenses with chain drives completely. Even the tine bars are controlled by a cam track mechanism. In addition, maintenance tasks can be performed easily: the new plastic tine scrapers are secured by a click-lock system and only a single bolt has to be undone in order to remove them.

The new PICK UP series allows the full engine output of the JAGUAR 1000 to be applied to delivering harvesting performance, enabling sustained higher throughput. The extremely reliable drive train is built to operate at up to 1,110 hp.

Hydraulically powered pre-compression applied by the intake auger for an optimum crop flow and high throughput.

Constant hydraulic pre-compression applied to the harvested material by the intake auger of the PICK UP creates a very even crop flow to the feeder unit. The speeds of the pick-up reel and the intake auger are dynamically adjusted by two independently variable drives on the basis of the length of cut setting and the ground speed. The robust pick-up reel with five rows of tines and the wear-free cam track mechanism is designed for the clean collection of large volumes of harvested material.

Safety in the field is increased by the covering net for the PICK UP, which keeps dust out of the operator's field of view. Operational resilience is also reinforced. Less dirt on the radiator screen of the JAGUAR reduces the need for cleaning and therefore means that productive operating time is not compromised.

The redesigned intake auger of the PICK UP features flights with a shallow pitch and four paddles. It is particularly robust and protected by segmented wear rings. The four paddles ensure an even crop feed to the JAGUAR. Another advantage is the ease with which the wear plates on the paddles can be changed.

PICK UP with two variable and independent drives for the intake auger and pick-up reel.

The pick-up reel is driven hydraulically. The independent adjustment of the reel speed to the ground speed enables an appropriate crop feed to the intake auger.

Automatic speed adjustment of the intake auger is performed in accordance with the set length of cut and, from 5 km/h, also in proportion to the ground speed. The consistent crop transfer to the pre-compression rollers ensures a perfect crop flow and optimum use of the capacity of the JAGUAR.

Crop flow.

The PICK UP series with the 4500, 3800 and 3000 models has a high-performance pick-up reel with five rows of tines and a cam track mechanism for particularly clean crop collection. The guide wheels, which can be adjusted without tools, are fitted at the same height as the pick-up reel.

The double roller crop press and the large auger diameter provide the basis for excellent crop flow. The speeds of the pick-up reel and the intake auger are automatically varied independently of each other on the basis of the length of cut setting and the ground speed. Hydraulic pre-compression by the intake auger in the PICK UP enables an ideal crop feed to the pre-compression rollers. This, in turn, results in an even crop flow and optimum chop quality.

ACTIVE CONTOUR.

Clean crop collection is ensured by the proven ACTIVE CONTOUR system. This active height control responds rapidly and reliably to control inputs from potentiometers to maintain the pick-up reel at the correct distance from the ground. ACTIVE CONTOUR with its flexibly mounted pick-up reel sets the standard for ground adaptation and avoids forage contamination, even in difficult conditions such as rough or hilly terrain.

The new reel for the PICK UP models 4500, 3800 and 3000 with five rows of tines and a wear-free cam track mechanism is designed for the clean collection of large crop volumes.

CLAAS CAM PILOT reduces the operator's workload.

The CLAAS CAM PILOT takes control of the task of steering during the swath pick-up process – therefore making it possible to attain working speeds of up to 15 km/h without fatiguing the operator. What's more, the operator can concentrate on filling the transport vehicle for a loss-free harvest.

The CLAAS CAM PILOT detects the swaths in three dimensions and applies the appropriate steering correction automatically. The CAM PILOT is activated via the control lever and deactivated simply by manual steering intervention.
