About CLAAS
TRION with MAXFLEX harvesting barley.

Just follow the ground.

MAXFLEX cutterbars.

Unique multicrop capability.

For a clean cut.

The 930 to 560 MAXFLEX cutterbars offer you the perfect solution for harvesting crops close to the ground. Their unique multicrop capability for grains and soybeans also results in high flexibility and makes them extremely user-friendly when harvesting a variety of different crops.

MAXFLEX cutterbars.

Loss-free harvesting with the right technology.

  • Flexible knife bar with 180 mm deflection
  • Electrohydraulic system allows flexible knife bar to be set to rigid configuration (for use in grains) and returned to flexible mode again (soybean harvesting) via the multifunction control lever or directly on the cutterbar
  • Cutting angle adjustment for different conditions via HP feeder housing and V feeder housing
  • Stripper plates adjustable from the outside
  • Optional grain baffle to avoid bouncing grain loss
  • Infinitely adjustable intake auger height
  • Compatibility with grain thanks to grain sensors, crop lifters and grain cutting system
  • Stainless steel bottom plate in central area of cutterbar table
  • Automatic parking and transport position
  • Automatic operating position

Don't accept any compromises.

Automation begins at the front attachment.

Harvesting is easier, faster and more convenient when the cutterbar is matched perfectly to the crop and the combine harvester.

CLAAS front attachments and CLAAS machines are precisely coordinated to work together. The operators have full access to all the operator assistance systems and are able to deliver impressively high campaign performance right from the word go.

Maintains the crop flow.

Automatic reel tractive force control.

The hydraulic reel drive adjusts the tractive power of the reel automatically to cope with difficult harvesting conditions, such as laid crops. At the same time, the automatic height control system, which operates on the basis of the programmed pressure and sensitivity levels, helps to maintain a continuous crop flow.

Automatic front attachment detection saves time.

Ready for the harvest.

To help prepare itself more quickly, your combine harvester configures the key parameters automatically. It does this based on the following information it receives from the front attachment module: cutterbar type, working width, number of sections, reel position, parking position and the AUTO CONTOUR set values for working height and hectare counter.
You benefit right from the start.

  • The combine harvester is ready to harvest in next to no time.
  • It is significantly easier to operate.
  • The positions of the reel and feeder housing are taken into account to rule out the risk of collisions and damage.

Close-up of flexible knife bar.

For harvesting low-growing crops and grains.

Built for wide-ranging crop rotation.

The MAXFLEX cutterbars are notable for their ability to provide a particularly even crop flow in different crop types. Whether you are dealing with low-growing legumes or a high-yield grain crop, the knife bar, cutterbar table and 660 mm wide intake auger work together to ensure trouble-free delivery of the crop to the combine harvester.

The flexible knife bar can be equipped with two different cutting systems:

  • closed knife guards for use with crop lifters
  • open knife guards for clean, trouble-free cutting, even under adverse conditions (e.g. moist plants, weeds)

The flexible, front section of the cutterbar table and the central floor plate are made of stainless steel. As a result, all material, whether short or heavy, is fed evenly to the intake auger.

Easy adaptation for grain harvesting.

Full throughput in all crop types.

For grain harvesting, crop lifters can be fitted to the short knife guards.
Optimal ground adaptation in grain stubble can be achieved by equipping the left and right sides each with a pair of AUTO CONTOUR sensors immediately behind the knife bar.

No problem with the right reel.

Built for when the going gets tough.

Particular demands are placed on the reel in difficult conditions when it has to dig deep into the crop or raise it from the ground. The reel's strong structure and wear-resistant tine tube bearings are therefore deliberately designed to handle these loads.

The reel tine carriers and the reel centre tube are designed to reduce the risk of wrapping as much as possible. This enables blockage-free working and keeps downtime to a minimum.

The flexible plastic reel tines also make it possible to work close to the ground.

Detail image: Work lights on the right-hand side.

Powerful work lights.

For long working days.

The lighting package provides good all-round visibility when operating in the dark. Work lights on the left and right sidewalls illuminate the crop edge. The work lights at left and right on the back panel allow the stubble immediately behind the cutterbar to be monitored.

Detail image: Replacing the intake auger fingers.

Intake auger fingers replaceable without tools.

All MAXFLEX cutterbars are equipped as standard with intake auger fingers which can be replaced without tools. The quick-release mounts can be accessed easily through the large maintenance openings in the intake auger. As a result, any repairs which may be necessary can be carried out in a very short time.

Adjustment of intake auger height.

Precise adjustment produces the best results.

Uninterrupted crop flow starts right at the cutterbar, with the correct height setting of the intake auger being a particularly important factor.

Height scales are therefore provided on the left and right sides to aid easy adjustment.

The stripper plates in the cutterbar trough can also be adjusted conveniently from outside.

AUTO CONTOUR cuts with precision.

Automatic front attachment guidance.

An optimal crop flow starts right from the front attachment. In order to ensure precise following of the ground contours, CLAAS front attachments are equipped with the front attachment guidance systems
CONTOUR and AUTO CONTOUR.

Cutterbars with CONTOUR adjust automatically to ground undulations parallel to the direction of travel. AUTO CONTOUR goes one step further, additionally offering you automatic compensation for surface irregularities across the direction of travel.

Maximum reduction in operator workload with optimal cutting performance.

Maximum flexibility for all ground contours.

MAXFLEX cutterbars can be used in 3 different operating modes.

The operating mode is selected in CEBIS.

1 Grain mode.

Cutterbar table and knife bar are set to a rigid configuration. The cutting height is controlled by the grain sensor bands.

2 Manual flex mode.

When manual flex mode is activated, the knife bar follows the ground contours. Sensors in the sliding skids provide the control signals for AUTO CONTOUR. The flexible knife bar can avoid obstacles with a 90 mm upward deflection and also follow the ground contours with a downward deflection of 90 mm. With a total flex range of 180 mm, MAXFLEX is therefore able to adjust to practically all ground conditions.

3 AUTO FLEX mode.

AUTO FLEX is a self-learning system which automatically optimises the height of the front attachment on the basis of the ground contours and thereby offers a number of important advantages:

  • The greatest possible downward flex range is always available
  • The knife bar is always maintained as close as possible to the reel
  • The lowest cutting height is achieved.
  • When AUTO FLEX is activated, the knife bar follows the ground contours. Sensors in the sliding skids provide the control signals for AUTO CONTOUR.

Avoid losses.

Just follow the ground.

Skids with integrated AUTO CONTOUR system for perfect adaptation to ground contours across entire working width enable harvesting of low-growing crops.
