The Tractor of the Year Award is the most prestigious international award for tractors. It is bestowed annually by a panel of judges from 26 countries, alternating between Agritechnica and EIMA. In 2023 CLAAS won the coveted award in the Open Field category with the XERION 12.650 TERRA TRAC – followed by a host of other international and national accolades.
This year's award ceremony at the EIMA in Bologna was the first to include the TOTYBot category, which pits cabless autonomous tractors and field robots against one another. On 6 November at 12:55 local time the results were announced: 'And the winner is… AgXeed!' The AgBot 5.115T2 managed to see off three rivals in its category thanks to a host of impressive features. 'The jury’s decision was guided by the combination of cutting-edge automation, practical integration with existing farming systems, and overall superior field performance,' read the judges' verdict, adding: 'What truly sets the AgBot 5.115T2 apart is its remarkable adaptability: these features allow it to handle a wide range of implements without the need for modifications, making it a versatile choice for farmers looking to optimise their operations with minimal changes. This compatibility with conventional agricultural tools, combined with its autonomous capabilities, makes it a highly attractive option for farms looking to adopt robotic technology.'
The judges were also impressed by the operational reliability and soil-friendly capabilities of the AgBot 5.115.T2: 'While fully electric tractors are gaining popularity, the AgBot's diesel system currently offers greater efficiency and extended operational time, capable of working for up to 20 hours. Thanks to the 900 mm rubber tracks, the ground pressure is less than 0.25 kg/cm², making a valuable contribution to soil protection and reducing the environmental impact.'
