The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder from CLAAS:

Optimal chopping quality under all conditions.

The demands placed on modern forage harvesters are continuously increasing. Great emphasis is placed on chop quality, uniform cut and optimal kernel processing. With the new V-FLEX chopping cylinder for the JAGUAR 900, CLAAS has developed an innovative solution that meets the needs of farmers and contractors more than ever. The new cylinder delivers outstanding chop and cutting quality – under the most wide-ranging harvesting conditions.

The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder from CLAAS is an optional upgrade to the proven V-MAX chopping cylinder. It offers additional advantages based on feedback from our customers around the world. The cylinder features a steep 10-degree knife angle which produces a smooth, drawing cut. Effortless cutting is more efficient and contributes to very precise and consistent chop quality.

High proportions of desirable chop length and less oversize material.

The four variants of the V-FLEX chopping cylinder – with 20, 24, 28 and 36 knives – support a versatile cutting range that more than satisfies all your chop length requirements. Preliminary field trials have shown that the V-FLEX cylinder produces higher proportions of the desired chop length compared with the V-MAX cylinder. Furthermore, it produces less oversize material and more fine particles, which further improves the quality of the chopped crop.

Contractor Thomas Vetter (GER)

"V-FLEX delivers superb chop quality."

Contractor Thomas Vetter from Baden-Württemberg is delighted with the performance of the new V-FLEX chopping cylinder. In particular, he points to the highly efficient processing of kernels with short cut lengths of 4 to 5 mm for biogas plants. "The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder delivers superb chop quality. We have notices that the higher flywheel mass copes effortlessly with dense swards, especially in grass," says Thomas Vetter. For him and his customers, the ability to handle varying amounts of forage efficiently is key – and that's exactly where the new V-FLEX chopping cylinder excels.

The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder from CLAAS:

Comfort and versatility for the perfect harvest.

The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder from CLAAS sets new standards in terms of comfort and versatility. Its versatile design supports multiple knife configurations – ensuring effortless adjustment of the chop length to serve the needs of relevant markets.

Maximum flexibility through innovative technology.

The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder supports a wide variety of chop lengths. One special feature is that it can operate in 'half-knife' mode using symmetrically arranged knifes half the length of standard knives. This innovation doubles the length of cut, ensuring uniform crop discharge and smooth crop flow for harvesting grass. When it comes to maize, uniform crop flow to the corncracker – even with long chop lengths – ensures efficient SHREDLAGE production.

Ingenious new design with four chopping cylinder variants.

The clever design of the V-FLEX chopping cylinder allows the same cylinder body to be configured in different ways, unlike the V-MAX series, whose cylinder bodies vary depending on the model. Four different chopping cylinder variants can be configured by applying different ring segments to the body: V-36, V-28, V-24 and V-20. This increases flexibility while at the same time reducing complexity.

4) Half knives

Contractor Max Wagner (GER)

Maximum comfort and convenience.

Maintenance of the V-FLEX couldn't be easier. Knife installation involves a simple insertion and bolting process, and the reduction in noise levels by 3–4 dBA makes for a pleasant working environment. Knife sharpening and shearbar adjustment can now be performed with a single activation in the CEBIS system – another new feature. State-of-the-art sensors automatically measure the radius of the chopping cylinder for rapid and precise adjustment of the shearbar. With five preselected knife sharpening cycles, the whole process takes no more than a minute.

Max Wagner, contractor and satisfied CLAAS customer, sums up in a nutshell: "The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder delivers outstanding flexibility and comfort. We will be sticking with CLAAS in future."

Rugged and wear-resistant for a long service life.

Its extremely robust construction is a particular highlight of the V-FLEX chopping cylinder. Each knife is secured with three bolts for maximum reliability. The cylinder is specially designed to remain stable even on contact with foreign objects. The knives have a 23 mm thick anti-wear coating – 20% thicker than the knives on the V-MAX cylinder. Knife wear is extremely uniform right down to the end of the coating. Outstanding durability and a longer service life are reflected in reduced maintenance requirements.

Contractor Justin Danell (USA)

"We are really impressed with the wear coating."

A robust chopping cylinder is crucial for contractors harvesting for long, extended seasons in the USA, for example, as Justin Darnell from California explains: "We need reliable, flexible machines for our work. We particularly appreciate the enhanced wear coating, which greatly increase the service life of the knives. The V-FLEX chopping cylinder does a superb job for us – both in spring and during the maize harvest."

David Desimpel (France)

Resistant to foreign objects.

In addition to its exceptional stability, the V-FLEX chopping cylinder demonstrates its reliability under challenging harvesting conditions. The V-FLEX really comes into its own on stoney fields. Contractor David Desimpel from France explains: "It's very stoney round here, but the V-FLEX makes a huge difference. It's extremely resistant to foreign objects and the knives maintain their performance to the end."

The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder from CLAAS:

Smooth crop flow for optimum efficiency under all conditions.

The innovative design of the new V-FLEX chopping cylinder ensures smooth crop flow and optimised harvesting performance – enabling contractors and farmers to increase efficiency and productivity in the field.

The V-FLEX chopping cylinder from CLAAS has a higher flywheel mass, which greatly increases its stability during harvesting operations. This ensures consistent throughput, especially in uneven swaths, so even when the going gets tough, the JAGUAR maintains maximum productivity under challenging conditions. The resulting smoother, more powerful operation makes the harvesting process more efficient than ever.

"The V-FLEX runs very smoothly".

Contractor Marlyn Chark from Mar-Lyn Chopping in Pennsylvania approves: "The V-FLEX chopping cylinder runs very smoothly, crop flow is even, and we save fuel into the bargain." Thanks to uniform crop flow, the JAGUAR performs consistently well even under varying conditions and crop volumes.

Less downtime, higher daily output.

Another highlight of the V-FLEX is the new knife geometry with 10-degree cutting angle. This delivers a very precise cut, which improves chopping quality as well as reducing fuel consumption. The knives are equipped with accelerator paddles to ensure reliable crop flow and make the whole process more efficient. Optional half-knives result in symmetrical crop discharge – and double the chop length.

"Its grass harvesting performance is excellent."

Chris Eichhorn, crop production manager at Milch-Land GmbH in Thuringia, also highlights the efficiency of the V-FLEX chopping cylinder: "Its grass harvesting performance is excellent. With our field structure we can handle some 80 hectares per day. That's an amazing amount. We are delighted with the new V-FLEX chopping cylinder."

The V-FLEX chopping cylinder not only optimises crop flow, it increases the overall efficiency of the whole machine. The V-FLEX is the ideal solution for anyone looking to maximise performance and achieve precise results.

Whole crop silage.

The CLAAS JAGUAR with front attachments – your perfect partner for whole crop silage.

Our JAGUAR forage harvester with its wide range of front attachments is a highly effective and outstandingly flexible harvesting solution for whole crop silage (WCS). With its three front attachment families, it has all the bases covered: there's the classic DIRECT DISC, the ORBIS maize front attachment, or the PICK UP for the times when a direct cutterbar or maize front attachment is not available.

JAGUAR with DIRECT DISC – the workhorse for practically every crop

The combination of the JAGUAR and the DIRECT DISC front attachment forms the ideal machine for harvesting a variety of crops, such as grains, legumes, sorghum and the like, as well as for heavy-duty harvesting in excess of about 200 hectares per year – making it our flagship harvesting solution. It is particularly well suited for use in the areas of bioenergy and animal feed. This combination allows you to mow and chop in a single step. The precise mower bed has a powerful cutting action and leaves a very even stubble profile while the side knives ensure reliable harvesting, even in severely intertwined crops. In the case of our DIRECT DISC 600 P and 500 P models, you can also adjust the height of the paddle roller as required. This ensures a uniform crop flow, even when operating in very short crops. When particularly tall crops (up to 4.00 m) are to be harvested, the JAGUAR with the DIRECT DISC 600 and 500 delivers precise cutting results without a paddle roller.

JAGUAR with ORBIS – an unbeatable duo for whole crop silage too

For farms with only a small annual WCS harvest area, our ORBIS maize front attachment offers an excellent alternative without compromising on crop flow. This front attachment delivers precise chopping quality with high throughput. With working widths between 4.5 and 9.00 m, the ORBIS has the right performance profile matched with low stubble height. A great advantage of the ORBIS is that no front attachment transport trailer is required. During the folding and unfolding of the ORBIS, the integrated transport protection with warning stickers and lighting is automatically pivoted into the appropriate position for road travel or field work. The folding process takes a maximum of 30 seconds and is controlled from the cab. Field work has never been easier!

JAGUAR with PICK UP – the dependable alternative in challenging conditions

The PICK UP is suitable for the collection of almost all thin-stemmed crops and represents a reliable alternative harvesting solution if no direct cutterbar or maize front attachment is available. The PICK UP is used after a preliminary swath grouping phase performed by a mowing combination. As a result of its direct ground contour adaptation, movable rake and tilting frame, the JAGUAR with PICK UP delivers an extremely precise harvest result, whatever the soil conditions. The automatic engine speed adjustment in accordance with the set length of cut and the ground speed results in an optimal crop flow and high throughput – even under difficult and changing conditions. Automatic chain lubrication makes for reliable, low-maintenance operation of the PICK UP.

Easy to use.

Smart Farming with the JAGUAR's intelligent assistance systems.

Digital assistance systems for the JAGUAR make precision field work easier, cut costs and are proven to reduce operator stress. With the help of the AUTO PILOT steering system's row sensors, GPS PILOT CEMIS 1200 and CAM PILOT, CEMOS machine optimisation and the AUTO FILL automatic filling system, operators can focus fully on the all-important harvesting process.

Digital assistance systems help JAGUAR operators work more efficiently with less stress. These are the findings of a recent study conducted by Cologne University of Applied Sciences, which showed that smart farming assistants in the JAGUAR, when used in combination, reduce fuel consumption by up to 13% while at the same time increasing throughput by around 10%. They were also found to noticeably reduce stress levels in ten out of twelve operators. For example, the AUTO FILL automatic trailer filling system reduced operator intervention to control the upper discharge chute by half. It does this by using a high-resolution camera to automatically control the chute. Furthermore – depending on the assistance system used – actuation of the control lever is reduced by 15 to 29 % and turns of the steering wheel by 35 to 65%.

GPS PILOT CEMIS 1200 and CAM PILOT keep you safely on trackWith the GPS PILOT CEMIS 1200 and CAM PILOT automatic steering systems, JAGUAR operators can stop worrying about keeping to precisely the right track. The CAM PILOT camera system uses two 3D cameras to detect the swath to be picked up at speeds of up to 15 km/h and automatically corrects any steering errors. Meanwhile, the GPS PILOT CEMIS 1200 has an eye on the bigger picture. Using satellite signals, it automatically steers the JAGUAR along the tramlines with great efficiency – without overlapping, even on tricky, uneven terrain. The operator can keep an eye on the precision steering at all times on the 12-inch touchscreen.

CEMOS AUTO PERFORMANCE optimises the configuration of the JAGUARThe CEMOS machine optimisation system ensures that the JAGUAR is correctly set up, whatever the situation. All the operator has to do is confirm the suggested parameters displayed on the screen in the cab. CEMOS maintains a constant engine speed by automatically adjusting the engine output and ground speed to the volume harvested. When the volume increases, the assistant reduces the ground speed, and when it decreases, the speed of the JAGUAR picks up again and the engine output reduces.

Thus CEMOS ensures stress-free working in addition to a smooth harvesting process and uniform crop flow. What's more, the machine optimisation system reduces diesel consumption in the JAGUAR by up to 12% while at the same time increasing performance by up to 7% per hectare and hour.

AUTO FILL takes the pressure off the operatorFilling the transport vehicle calls for precision to minimise crop losses. This normally puts forage harvester operators under a lot of stress – because it takes enormous concentration to drive and monitor the filling at the same time. In the JAGUAR, the AUTO FILL automatic filling system takes care of the filling. A high-resolution camera mounted on the discharge chute detects the transport vehicle and gauges the fill level.

Using 3D image analysis, the automatic trailer filling system controls the discharge chute and corrects it when the position of the JAGUAR or the transport vehicle changes. The operator can monitor the fill level on the screen and intervene in the process at any time. So without leaving the cab, they can easily respond to changing conditions caused by wind and rain, for example.

Silage quality

Flexible and precise: the CLAAS JAGUAR lays the foundation for silage that meets the highest quality standards.

Whether it is a matter of producing short-chopped silage for biogas customers, extremely long-chopped maize silage processed as SHREDLAGE or forage with a medium length of cut and excellent kernel processing – you can always count on optimal results from the CLAAS JAGUAR. The JAGUAR works precisely and meets the highest standards for crop processing.

With CLAAS, quality always comes first. In everything we do. It begins with the reliability of our machines and ends with the quality of the harvested product that is stored and used as feed. There is always a correlation – which has been verified by recognised studies – between forage and milk quality or between silage for biogas and the resulting gas yield. We build the JAGUAR the way we do because of the decisive role it plays in determining the quality of the chopped material it produces.

The CLAAS JAGUAR is the first choice of farmers and contractors when it comes to producing quality silage. Our forage harvester has proved itself in this role for 50 years now. The JAGUAR is the specialist machine for harvesting and chopping maize and other crops – and doing so with extreme precision.

Ideal for biogas customersThe JAGUAR is able to harvest not only maize but also other crops, such as grass, grains and many other plants, which are used for the production of silage or forage for biogas facilities. Harvesting at the right moment is a prerequisite for obtaining the best silage quality. Ever narrower harvest windows require that as much as possible be harvested in the shortest possible time. This time factor, which is an essential characteristic of agriculture today, means that the JAGUAR's capacity for processing large crop volumes in a short time makes it the ideal machine for customers who operate biogas facilities. Equipped with its MULTI CROP CRACKER MAX corncracker, it processes the crop with a high degree of kernel splitting and optimal plant conditioning. The processed output which the MCC MAX is able to produce from harvested material with a length of cut up to 3 millimetres longer has been shown to be comparable to conventionally processed silage. This increases the operational flexibility of the JAGUAR with regard to crop processing for a variety of applications.

Good forage, higher milk yield, greater meat massThe JAGUAR is also ideal for supporting dairy farming and bull rearing. Equipped with the MULTI CROP CRACKER SHREDLAGE, it takes maize silage with a length of cut of 22 to 30 millimetres and processes it precisely and efficiently to produce well-structured forage with the highest degree of kernel cracking. SHREDLAGE silage maize conditioning technology increases the surface area of the chopped plants many times over, thereby increasing the physical effectiveness of the maize silage in the rumen. This is good news for both livestock and farmer. It has been proven that optimally processed forage means an increased milk yield or a higher carcass yield from finishing bulls. The result: more milk, more meat, and healthier animals.

The perfect machine for perfect silageThe JAGUAR offers extremely precise chopping and a very high standard of processing – the foundation of quality silage. Another advantage is that the JAGUAR series comprises various models and configuration options in order to meet farmers' diverse requirements. Machines can be specified for particular harvesting conditions and requirements. CLAAS guarantees perfectly matched components: front attachments for a wide range of applications, chopping cylinders for short to long lengths of cut, and the MULTI CROP CRACKER CLASSIC, MAX and SHREDLAGE corncracker variants to ensure the highest standard of kernel processing.

The CLAAS JAGUAR forage harvester impresses with its reliability, efficiency and versatility. To own it is to own the perfect machine for perfect silage.

Soil protection.

CLAAS JAGUAR with tyre pressure control system and TERRA TRAC crawler tracks.

Soil quality and fertility are decisive factors for agricultural success. The CLAAS JAGUAR forage harvester equipped with TERRA TRAC crawler tracks keeps the load on the soil to a minimum while providing a high level of driving comfort and ensuring optimal traction.

Farmers know how important it is to protect the soil. The CLAAS JAGUAR with its standard large tyres is already very well equipped to do so. In order to minimise ground pressure and protect the field soil structure, the JAGUAR can be equipped with an innovative tyre pressure control system for both the front and rear wheels. The system is extremely easy to use: the operator sets the desired tyre pressure in the CEBIS onboard computer before setting off. The tyre pressure adjusts automatically to the driving conditions. This means, for example, that the JAGUAR can run on the road safely and stably with high tyre pressure at up to 40 km/h. When the machine is switched over to field work, the tyre pressure is automatically reduced to the optimal level. This produces a larger contact area and significantly reduced ground pressure during harvesting.

Excellent traction, high driving comfortThe increased contact area which results from the reduced tyre pressure leads not only to improved soil protection, but also to greater traction. The reduced tyre pressure functions like a suspension system that gently absorbs bumps – thereby enhancing driving comfort too.

The perfect addition: TERRA TRAC crawler tracksThe optional TERRA TRAC crawler track system for the JAGUAR 960 and the JAGUAR 990 provides an even higher degree of soil protection, traction and driving comfort. The TERRA TRAC system, available in three different crawler track widths, increases the contact area of the front axle to a significant degree. A particular advantage of the TERRA TRAC crawler track system is that it can keep the overall width of a machine to 3.00 m. This means that no additional authorisation for overwidth running is required and represents a clear advantage compared with wheeled machines with 800-size tyres and an overall width of 3.30 m. Another benefit of TERRA TRAC is that it makes for smooth running in the field and compensates for bumps almost completely. This, in turn, has a positive effect on the quality of the work in the field and the front attachment guidance. The result is an extremely consistent stubble field while the operator in the cab appreciates a particularly smooth, judder-free driving experience.

Headland protection for grass harvestingOn top of this, TERRA TRAC is equipped with a headland protection system. This comes into its own during turning manoeuvres when it protects the grass cover by automatically reducing the risk of a shearing force being applied by the long contact area of the crawler tracks. How it works: when a given rear-axle steering angle is detected, the two support rollers of the crawler track unit are automatically pushed down. This reduces the contact area by one third, rendering it comparable to that of a tyre. This feature is enabled automatically in combination with the PICK UP front attachment so that the JAGUAR with the TERRA TRAC system is able to be used throughout the whole year.

Efficient.

CLAAS JAGUAR – the perfect machine for each and every customer.

Efficient, economical, digital and able to deliver high throughput: the CLAAS JAGUAR is an excellent choice for farmers and contractors looking to purchase a forage harvester, whether new or used.

Everyday agricultural work is becoming increasingly demanding: working conditions are growing more complex, machines more digital, cost pressure is rising and competition is intensifying. Given all these factors, owning the perfect machine has never been more important. It has to be extremely robust, productive and have a long service life while always keeping pace with the latest technological standards. As setbacks resulting from technical problems or, worse still, breakdowns, can be almost impossible to overcome, it makes sense to choose a forage harvester that you can always count on. The CLAAS JAGUAR has what it takes to deliver optimal performance, whatever the harvesting conditions.

Whether equipped with TERRA TRAC crawler tracks, available as an option for the JAGUAR 960 and the JAGUAR 990, or versatile front attachments, such as the PICK UP or ORBIS, CLAAS JAGUAR machines are in use all over the world harvesting an extremely wide range of crops.

Direct drive from the engine to the chopper unitA particularly notable characteristic which reinforces the high performance of the JAGUAR is the direct drive of the chopper unit by the engine. The transverse engine layout does away with the need for an angular gear and thereby not only avoids a loss of efficiency of some 5% but also enables a significant reduction in the machine's weight and the degree of maintenance required.

Wide range of technical solutions to enhance efficiencyAnother key aspect is the straight and even crop flow which makes the harvesting process both efficient and reliable. These qualities are also supported by the extensive array of technology on board. There is CEMOS AUTO PERFORMANCE, the intelligent engine management and ground drive system, for example, or the DYNAMIC POWER automatic engine output control system. Together, these systems help to reduce fuel consumption at partial load by up to 13%. DYNAMIC COOLING, the variable radiator fan drive system, adjusts the amount of cooling efficiently, delivering only the amount of cooling which is actually required at any time. This can reduce the machine's power requirement by up to 10 kW.

The innovative accelerator gap adjustment system also enables power savings of up to 15 kW, especially when the crop is only being discharged to the side. Another feature which enhances efficiency is the tyre pressure control system which reduces fuel consumption by up to 5%. Lower tyre pressure increases the contact area of the tyres, reduces the extent to which they sink into the ground and so saves power by allowing the wheels to turn more easily.

Consistent performance around the clockThe integration of smart operator assistance systems – such as AUTO FILL, CAM PILOT / GPS PILOT and CEMOS AUTO PERFORMANCE – ensures that the JAGUAR forage harvester can work consistently around the clock at optimal capacity. These systems also reduce the operator's workload to a significant degree. Statistics show that the number of control lever clicks performed by the operator when controlling the discharge spout, for example, is reduced by 50.6%. Control lever movements are down by 15.2% (or even 29.3% with GPS) while turns of the steering wheel are reduced by 35.4% (64.5% with GPS).

Reducing the operator's workload results in greater machine efficiency, increased throughput and lower fuel consumption. With its assistance systems switched on, the JAGUAR achieves an increase in throughput efficiency of up to 10% and consumes up to 13% less fuel.

Harvest data available onlineAnother significant benefit of the optimisation and digitalisation of work processes is the contribution these measures make to enabling direct online access to harvest data which can be used quickly and efficiently. With CLAAS connect, for example, you can monitor all your activities, work processes, documentation and licences at all times.
