Seven myths about CLAAS connect – and why they don't add up.

CLAAS connect is the perfect tool for precision farming, connected farm management and digital routine work. The benefits for processes and wallets are wide-ranging – as are the myths that cause people to have misgivings. Time to bust them.

Myth 1: You just want my data.

Wrong! All data and information in CLAAS connect are GDPR-compliant. No information about the farm, jobs, agronomic data or similar is stored. Machine data is the only information that can be transferred. And it doesn't go to CLAAS, but to the dealership – securely encrypted and for the purpose of offering the best possible service.

Myth 2: CLAAS connect is just another log-in for me to remember.

Wrong! Far from making it worse, CLAAS connect does quite the opposite. The CLAAS ID brings an end to password mayhem. You can access all machines, tasks, parts orders and whatever else you manage in the app with just this one log-in.

Myth 3: CLAAS connect is much to expensive.

Not true! CLAAS connect saves more than it costs. Of course you have the upfront outlay for the licence, but the investment soon pays off. Whether sowing using the most accurate potential maps, precision crop spraying, optimising diesel consumption or better planning of maintenance intervals – CLAAS connect allows you to review every aspect of your operation with greater precision and significantly reduce your operating costs.

Myth 4: You can only use CLAAS connect if you have CLAAS machines.

No, quite the opposite: In fact, you don't need any machine to use the farm management functions in CLAAS connect. And when it comes to operations involving mobile vehicles, we've taken a realistic approach. Most farms have mixed fleets, so these can be connected to one another in CLAAS connect in exactly the same way as a pure CLAAS fleet.

Myth 5: There's no way the software can know my fields better than me.

Farmers know their fields better than anyone else – no software can match them. But what CLAAS connect can definitely do is provide new opportunities. The yield maps and satellite images in CLAAS connect supplement the farmer's knowledge and highlight hidden potential.

Myth 6: In the end, you still have to run around the field with a USB stick.

Wrong! Earlier versions of farm software certainly left a lot to be desired, but the days of the field USB stick are finally over thanks to the new CLAAS connect. All tasks are transferred straight from the computer or smartphone to the machine and the results are returned just as effortlessly for documentation. This saves time and ensures that processes run smoothly in the field without loss of data or data carriers.

Myth 7: This kind of software is not relevant to contractors.

No, quite the reverse! CLAAS connect is of great benefit to contractors. With functions such as fleet and customer data management, all machine data you collect is always available. Because alongside fieldwork, these are central to the services provided by contractors. CLAAS connect also helps protect the fleet from unplanned downtimes by gathering all the maintenance plans centrally in one place.
