About CLAAS

XERION 5000-4500

Working hard to make your job easier.

XERION 5000-4500

Two versions with one unique build concept.

XERION TRAC and TRAC VC

There is nothing quite like the XERION. You'd recognize it instantly: four equal-sized wheels on two steered axles, full-frame construction for carrying heavy loads, continuously variable transmission up to 530 hp and the intuitive operation that you only get from CLAAS.

  • TRAC – with fixed cab
  • TRAC VC – with rotating cab

Power equals efficiency.

  • High on torque – power where you need it.
  • Exceptionally robust – built for extreme loads.
  • Comfortable – comfort and concentration go hand-in-hand.
  • Efficient – our drive system: the perfect interplay between optimal components.
  • Unlimited flow – hydraulics with up to 111 gpm oil flow
  • Cost-effective – rapid maintenance means more time in the field.

Power where you need it.

High on torque.

CLAAS POWER SYSTEMS combines powerful 6-cylinder Mercedes-Benz engines with a simple drive train. Enormous torque is available with all three machines, even in lower engine speed ranges. The low-speed concept reduces the engine idling speed from 800 rpm to 730 rpm.

Designed to save fuel.

Latest generation of engines.

  • 6-cylinder in-line engines with 10.7 and 12.8 liter cubic capacity
  • Maximum output from 462 to 530 hp
  • 1622 / 1770 and 1917 lb-ft maximum torque
  • Constant torque curve at high level
  • Intelligent cooling with fuel-saving fan speed control
  • Radiators can be cleaned on the move by pressing a button to reverse the fan wheel

Built for extreme loads.

Exceptionally robust.

The XERION is ideal for carrying heavy loads, thanks to its unique frame construction. Bolted rather than welded crossbeams in the frame provide greater strength and load-carrying capacity. The heavy-duty axles are designed to carry loads of up to 15 t per axle at speeds of up to 31 mph (50 km/h). Despite its size and weight, with two steered axles, the XERION is remarkably agile and maneuverable.

The right steering for every job.

The two steering axles on the XERION can be steered in five different ways and remain active on the headlands.

  1. Standard steering program
  2. 4-wheel steering
  3. Single-sided crab steering
  4. Gentle mode (reduced crab steering)
  5. Full crab steering

1 Standard steering mode

1 Standard steering mode

  • Four-wheel and front-axle steering combined
  • From 5° steering of the front axle, the rear axle follows the front axle electro-hydraulically
  • The steering lock is continuously reduced from 7 mph (12 km/h)
  • Fully locked at 25 mph (40 km/h)

Four-wheel steering

Four-wheel steering

  • Rear axle is steered at the same time as the front axle but in the opposite direction
  • Axles move simultaneously

3 Single-sided crab steering modes

3 Single-sided crab steering modes

  • Rear axle controlled separately via the CMOTION multifunction control lever

4 Gentle mode (reduced crab steering)

4 Gentle mode (reduced crab steering)

  • Rear axle moves along a parallel track to front axle
  • 75% of steering lock can be used
  • Steering corrected up to 4° by the steering wheel via the front axle

5 Full crab steering modes

Full crab steering

5 Full crab steering modes

  • Rear axle moves along a parallel track to front axle
  • Rear axle steered once via the CMOTION multi-function control lever
  • Minor steering corrections possible

Our drive system: the perfect interplay between optimal components.

Efficient.

Along with being highly efficient, the drive assemblies are enormously robust, reliable under all operating conditions and have an impressively long service life. Thanks to the low input speed and low-speed concept, the XERION can work extremely efficiently in numerous applications. Since the front and rear axle drives are rigidly connected, no longitudinal differential is required.

Hydraulics with up to 111 gpm (422 l/min) oil flow.

Unlimited flow.

Need even more hydraulic power to satisfy your increasingly powerful implements? No problem – thanks to the new pump transfer gearbox and a new optional hydraulic pump, our system can deliver a flow rate of up to 111 gpm, even at low engine speeds. That's enough for extra-wide seed drills or slurry tankers, for example. The XERION has the highest hydraulic output on the market.

Fast maintenance means more time in the field.

Cost-effective.

The XERION does whatever it can to minimize downtimes. The engine needs servicing just every 1000 hours. When maintenance does become due, it can be carried out quickly and effortlessly. The engine oil filter and cab air filter are very accessible. The radiator assembly can easily be opened and cleaned by the driver as required. What's more, at the press of a button, the driver can reverse the direction of the fan from the cab to blow dust and dirt away from the radiators in seconds.

Fresh air is always good.

Tractors are often surrounded by clouds of dust on long working days. The XERION has a particularly efficient system for precleaning the engine intake air. Cyclones separate out the coarse dirt, which is then removed by the exhaust system. The PowerCore® engine air intake filter is extremely robust with high filtration performance.
