The technology of the DISCO mower.

MAX CUT.

MAX CUT.

  1. Wave-shaped mower bed allows mowing discs to be placed well to the front
  2. Optimum tunnel effect, further increased by skids with spoiler action
  3. Innovative bolting concept for maximum bending and shape stability
  4. Permanently lubricated maintenance-free mower bar for maximum service life
  5. SAFETY LINK safety modules protect the mower bar in the event of collisions
  6. Formed hardox inserts between skids for a clean cut
  7. Very small mower bed openings for maximum strength

Suspension.

Suspension.

ACTIVE FLOAT enables you to respond quickly and easily to all sorts of different conditions, such as wet spots or dry mounds, and non-uniform crop material. The mower ground pressure can be flexibly adjusted with a single-acting control unit even while the machine is working. The current setting can easily be read from a pressure gauge, which is clearly visible from the cab.

Speed reduction.

Speed reduction.

All DISCO mowers can also be operated with a reduced PTO shaft speed of 850 rpm, depending on the operating conditions. Thanks to this "built-in economy PTO", fuel consumption is significantly reduced.“On average, farms can save up to 22% on fuel by reducing the PTO shaft speed. When using a DISCO 9200 C AUTO SWATHER, this equates to approximately 0.12 gal/hr (1.16 liters per hectare), or about 1.85 gal/hr (7 liters per hour).” This is the conclusion reached by a student at Kiel University of Applied Sciences after 32 field trials.

Tine conditioner.

Tine conditioner.

Tine conditioners with V-shaped tines in a spiral configuration are ideal for harvesting grass crops. Conditioning intensity is set via a baffle plate. Flexible mounting allows the tines to give way and pass around any objects that find their way into the conditioner – stones, for example. This avoids repair costs. As an option, the harvest crop can also be spread over the entire working width with a wide crop spreader, or deposited in a single swath with adjustable swathing plates.

Roller conditioner with polyurethane rollers.

Roller conditioner with polyurethane rollers.

For leafy forage crops like alfalfa, gentle processing is essential. The goal is to crush the stalks without damaging the leaves. This is where the DISCO mower, with roller conditioner, proves effective. The V-shaped, interlocking, and exceptionally durable polyurethane rollers crush the tough stalks while protecting the leaves. The degree of conditioning is infinitely adjustable via spring pre-load, which also protects the rollers from foreign objects.

A double roller drive, via a specially developed scissor gearbox, is available as an option – for maximum throughput with very bulky crops. Variable swath plates are used for swath formation.

Roller conditioner with steel rollers.

Roller conditioner with steel rollers.

The optional steel roller conditioners offer an effective solution for the reliable processing of even thick-stemmed crops, such as sorghum.

The specially designed roller profile, with tapered edges, ensures an intensive degree of processing and enables uniform wilting, even with heavy or wet material.

The steel rollers are characterized by low wear and, thanks to the double roller drive, ensure a consistently high throughput.

The models.

Faultless reliability.

DISCO CONTOUR.

With its DISCO CONTOUR rear-mounted mowers, CLAAS offers the perfect machine for every farm. These powerful all-rounders combine the performance of the MAX CUT cutterbar with other DISCO advantages. The central suspension ensures perfect ground contour following on all models. At the same time, their 120° transport position makes them compact and safe for road use.

Another advantage: The modern, dark design not only looks good, but is also less susceptible to dirt.

Optimum ground-contour following.

The mower units in the CONTOUR model series are suspended at the center of gravity, so they can pivot freely and adapt to the ground contours. The correct adjustment height is indicated by arrow markings on the arm.

Solid construction.

Our machines impress with their robust and exceptionally clear design. For example, the particularly sturdy conditioner hood is made of wear-resistant Hardox steel. Especially when used with a tine conditioner, stones thrown up by the machine can cause significant stress. Here, the stable construction ensures reliable protection and a long service life.

Where technically possible, hydraulic components are integrated into the frame to protect them from external influences.

Optional counterweight

On slopes or when used with lighter tractors, stability quickly becomes a crucial factor. Optional counterweights provide targeted compensation – for smoother handling, increased stability on slopes, and greater safety at the headland.

Well protected.

All DISCO rear mowers have mechanical collision protection. The attachment is inclined at an angle of 15°, so that in the event of a collision, the mower swings back and over the obstacle. Mowing can then continue after briefly reversing to reset the mower.

Road safety is a priority.

The 120° transport position and center of gravity located close to the tractor provide outstanding stability for safety and ease of handling on the road. There is also a mechanical lock system to hold the mower securely, when in the transport position.

Durable and easy to pull.

DISCO 100 series with side suspension.

Center of gravity suspension.

The large suspension spring acts on the middle of the machine frame. In addition, the line of force of the spring passes straight through the mower's center of gravity. The inner and outer support ensures that the force is transferred evenly to the mower bed.

The small spring additionally protects the mower bar drive. Our unique center of gravity suspension brings the advantages of central suspension to the side-suspended models.

Drive line.

The mower is driven via especially low-maintenance PTO drive shafts that do not require a safety chain. The robust belt drive absorbs peak loads and is tensioned by means of a rotary knob without needing tools. From there the force is transferred to a double gearbox, which delivers the drive input from above straight to the first cutting disc for optimal crop flow.

Mechanical collision protection.

The overload protection responds immediately upon collision with an obstacle by swinging the mower unit up and back. Mowing can then continue after briefly reversing to reset the mower. An additional bracket also protects the outer edge of the mower from damage.

Space-saving.

For space-saving storage, a separate storage stand is available, on which the mower can be placed directly from the tractor – without additional supports.

105°-transport position.

In the transport position, the machine's center of gravity shifts even further towards the center, ensuring the tractor's rear wheels are loaded as evenly as possible. The integrated double gearbox results in a narrow transport width and unobstructed rear visibility. A double-acting floating piston cylinder ensures safe folding on slopes and provides end-stop damping.

Mowing is easy and quick.

DISCO 10 series with side suspension.

All DISCO mowers have the same high-quality core component – the MAX CUT cutter bar – and this is available from a working width of 8 ft 5 inches (2.60 m), because every meadow needs the perfect cut.

From there the force is transferred to a double gearbox which delivers the drive input from above straight to the first cutting disc – so no inner shoe is required and optimal crop flow is ensured.

The fuel miser.

The transmission ratio enables the PTO shaft speed to be reduced from 540 rpm to 460 rpm in lighter crops. This reduces fuel consumption without loss of mowing performance.

At home in the hills.

The DISCO 10 range has been optimized for working on sloping terrain, with specially reinforced components and an extremely weight-conscious design. This range is also ideal for mowing road ditches and embankments with inclines of up to 45°.

Easy access.

Both halves of the protective cover conveniently fold upwards to allow easy access for maintenance and cleaning. The outer edge of the cover, which is more prone to wear, can be replaced separately.
