MAX SPREAD rotor technology.

MAX SPREAD now fitted in all model series.

With the introduction of the MAX SPREAD crop flow system, CLAAS revolutionized tedder technology and redefined the state of the art. MAX SPREAD is now fitted on all VOLTO models—from the largest to the smallest. The unique feature of the system is the tine arms at an angle of 29.3° to the rear.

The benefits of MAX SPREAD at a glance:

  • Increased raking performance
  • Gentle forage handling
  • Clean spread pattern
  • Higher throughput
  • Outstanding work quality

MAX SPREAD rotor technology.

More uniform distribution, thanks to the tine connection angled to the rear.

The 29.3° trailed connection also has a positive impact on crop delivery. Like the trailed spreading blades of a fertilizer spreader, this configuration ensures a wider and more even distribution of the harvested crop for an optimal spread pattern. This fertilizer spreader effect is further supported by tine tension release in the direction of the winding, spreading the crop over the entire width.

MAX SPREAD rotor technology.

Layer-by-layer drying for top-quality results.

To cushion loads, the tines have five windings. The material thickness of 0.37" (9.5 mm) still provides enough rigidity for a clean raking result. To protect animals and follow harvesting machinery, each spreader arm is equipped with a tine loss guard. These guards prevent tines from coming away in the event of a breakage, and their trapezoid shape prevents the forage from becoming wrapped around the spreader arm.

MAX SPREAD rotor technology.

Tubular arms and spreading angle adjustment.

The greatest forces involved in tedding are those acting on the spreader arms. Accordingly, these arms are manufactured from rounded tubing for extreme torsion resistance. They are bolted to the rotor plate and are further strengthened by a reinforcement ring with recesses.

To adapt the machine to harvesting conditions, the spreading angle can be set from 12° to 18°, depending on the model. The tines can also be adjusted forward or backward by 7°, allowing you to fine-tune your desired spreading pattern.

MAX SPREAD rotor technology.

Tine loss guard for better protection.

To produce high-quality forage, the harvested crop must be dried out evenly. Therefore, the tines on VOLTO machines are equipped with fingers of equal length. These pick up the crop in layers and ensure that it is mixed thoroughly. The result is a homogeneous spreading pattern and rapid drying of the harvested crop.

PERMALINK drive technology.

A hexagonal shaft effectively transfers the drive force to all rotor gearboxes via PERMALINK couplers, ensuring reliable drive at each of the rotor's folding points.

PERMALINK drive technology.

Power transmission: the PERMALINK finger clutch.

On VOLTO machines, power is transferred via the
PERMALINK finger clutch, which ensures a reliable transfer of power in all operational conditions. In addition, the innovative design enables folding movements of up to 180°, allowing retraction to a compact transport position.

PERMALINK drive technology.

The night-swathing gearbox.

Forming overnight or temporary swaths is often advisable when working with hay—particularly when harvesting time frames are tight. The hay absorbs much less moisture overnight, allowing much faster drying subsequently. This operation is carried out with the overnight swathing gear, reducing the rotor speed by one-third. The harvested crop is formed into several small swaths.

PERMALINK drive technology.

Large-scale stability and safety.

The new PERMALINK HD finger clutch is specially designed for maximum impact force and working widths of up to 49.5' (15.10 m). The large and extremely robust fingers ensure a reliable and friction-locked connection in every position. Thanks to the enlarged wear surfaces and a maintenance-free design, CLAAS guarantees long-term safety and operational performance.

Frame construction.

The frame construction also reflects the clever use of steelwork—depending on the model, we use a square tube rotated by 45° or a weight-optimized round profile.

Frame construction.

Box frame for maximum performance and stamina.

Solid box sections give VOLTO machines the endurance they require in the field. These feature a wall thickness of 0.31" (8.00 mm) and are angled at 45° for effective absorption of torsional forces and enduring operational reliability. Furthermore, forces acting on the chassis are absorbed by solid cast-iron joints with a double-shear connection.

Frame construction.

Headland lift.

Depending on the model, the headland lift comes as standard or is available as an option in the VOLTO. It stabilizes the outer rotors to ensure a comfortable ride at the headland.

Frame construction.

Smooth in the field and safe on the road.

Thanks to the extra-large 500/55 20 tires with a diameter of 3.48' (1.06 m), the transport chassis ensures maximum safety and driving comfort even at higher speeds. The large wheels are particularly beneficial in the field. Thanks to generous contact surfaces, they ensure ideal ground protection.

Folding and transport.

Safe and easy handling on the road.

The intelligent folding mechanism is controlled hydraulically from the comfort of the cab. The arms retract to a compact transport position, allowing you to transport your tedder safely by road.

Folding and transport.

The VOLTO T models.

The T models are fitted with a short drawbar and a road transport chassis behind the rotors. This ensures a narrow turning circle and simple, compact handling in the field, while the long wheelbase allows speeds of up to 25 mph (40 km/h) on the road.

Folding and transport.

Maximum performance power in an agile package.

If the single-acting control unit is moved into the floating position, the self-steering system is automatically activated in the working position. This eliminates the need to lift into the headland position for tight turning maneuvers, making the enormous working width of up to 49.5' (15.10 m) even more efficiently and gently used.

Folding and transport.

Reliable under all conditions.

Since every blade of grass counts and soiling has no place in the forage, up to 14 small rotors adapt perfectly to the ground.

The large towed tedders with transport chassis behave like compact, mounted models in the field. The rotors—mounted in a floating position—run close to the chassis that acts as a castor guide wheel.
