JAGUAR. Unstoppable.
Reliable and powerful: JAGUAR.
The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder from CLAAS:
The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder from CLAAS is an optional upgrade to the proven V-MAX chopping cylinder. It offers additional advantages based on feedback from our customers around the world. The cylinder features a steep 10-degree knife angle which produces a smooth, drawing cut. Effortless cutting is more efficient and contributes to very precise and consistent chop quality.
Contractor Thomas Vetter (GER)
The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder from CLAAS:
The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder supports a wide variety of chop lengths. One special feature is that it can operate in 'half-knife' mode using symmetrically arranged knifes half the length of standard knives. This innovation doubles the length of cut, ensuring uniform crop discharge and smooth crop flow for harvesting grass. When it comes to maize, uniform crop flow to the corncracker – even with long chop lengths – ensures efficient SHREDLAGE production.
The clever design of the V-FLEX chopping cylinder allows the same cylinder body to be configured in different ways, unlike the V-MAX series, whose cylinder bodies vary depending on the model. Four different chopping cylinder variants can be configured by applying different ring segments to the body: V-36, V-28, V-24 and V-20. This increases flexibility while at the same time reducing complexity.

The new V-FLEX chopping cylinder from CLAAS:
The V-FLEX chopping cylinder from CLAAS has a higher flywheel mass, which greatly increases its stability during harvesting operations. This ensures consistent throughput, especially in uneven swaths, so even when the going gets tough, the JAGUAR maintains maximum productivity under challenging conditions. The resulting smoother, more powerful operation makes the harvesting process more efficient than ever.
Contractor Marlyn Chark from Mar-Lyn Chopping in Pennsylvania approves: "The V-FLEX chopping cylinder runs very smoothly, crop flow is even, and we save fuel into the bargain." Thanks to uniform crop flow, the JAGUAR performs consistently well even under varying conditions and crop volumes.
Another highlight of the V-FLEX is the new knife geometry with 10-degree cutting angle. This delivers a very precise cut, which improves chopping quality as well as reducing fuel consumption. The knives are equipped with accelerator paddles to ensure reliable crop flow and make the whole process more efficient. Optional half-knives result in symmetrical crop discharge – and double the chop length.
Our JAGUAR forage harvester with its wide range of front attachments is a highly effective and outstandingly flexible harvesting solution for whole crop silage (WCS). With its three front attachment families, it has all the bases covered: there's the classic DIRECT DISC, the ORBIS maize front attachment, or the PICK UP for the times when a direct cutterbar or maize front attachment is not available.
JAGUAR with DIRECT DISC – the workhorse for practically every crop
The combination of the JAGUAR and the DIRECT DISC front attachment forms the ideal machine for harvesting a variety of crops, such as grains, legumes, sorghum and the like, as well as for heavy-duty harvesting in excess of about 200 hectares per year – making it our flagship harvesting solution. It is particularly well suited for use in the areas of bioenergy and animal feed. This combination allows you to mow and chop in a single step. The precise mower bed has a powerful cutting action and leaves a very even stubble profile while the side knives ensure reliable harvesting, even in severely intertwined crops. In the case of our DIRECT DISC 600 P and 500 P models, you can also adjust the height of the paddle roller as required. This ensures a uniform crop flow, even when operating in very short crops. When particularly tall crops (up to 4.00 m) are to be harvested, the JAGUAR with the DIRECT DISC 600 and 500 delivers precise cutting results without a paddle roller.
JAGUAR with ORBIS – an unbeatable duo for whole crop silage too
For farms with only a small annual WCS harvest area, our ORBIS maize front attachment offers an excellent alternative without compromising on crop flow. This front attachment delivers precise chopping quality with high throughput. With working widths between 4.5 and 9.00 m, the ORBIS has the right performance profile matched with low stubble height. A great advantage of the ORBIS is that no front attachment transport trailer is required. During the folding and unfolding of the ORBIS, the integrated transport protection with warning stickers and lighting is automatically pivoted into the appropriate position for road travel or field work. The folding process takes a maximum of 30 seconds and is controlled from the cab. Field work has never been easier!
JAGUAR with PICK UP – the dependable alternative in challenging conditions
The PICK UP is suitable for the collection of almost all thin-stemmed crops and represents a reliable alternative harvesting solution if no direct cutterbar or maize front attachment is available. The PICK UP is used after a preliminary swath grouping phase performed by a mowing combination. As a result of its direct ground contour adaptation, movable rake and tilting frame, the JAGUAR with PICK UP delivers an extremely precise harvest result, whatever the soil conditions. The automatic engine speed adjustment in accordance with the set length of cut and the ground speed results in an optimal crop flow and high throughput – even under difficult and changing conditions. Automatic chain lubrication makes for reliable, low-maintenance operation of the PICK UP.

Digital assistance systems for the JAGUAR make precision field work easier, cut costs and are proven to reduce operator stress. With the help of the AUTO PILOT steering system's row sensors, GPS PILOT CEMIS 1200 and CAM PILOT, CEMOS machine optimisation and the AUTO FILL automatic filling system, operators can focus fully on the all-important harvesting process.
Digital assistance systems help JAGUAR operators work more efficiently with less stress. These are the findings of a recent study conducted by Cologne University of Applied Sciences, which showed that smart farming assistants in the JAGUAR, when used in combination, reduce fuel consumption by up to 13% while at the same time increasing throughput by around 10%. They were also found to noticeably reduce stress levels in ten out of twelve operators. For example, the AUTO FILL automatic trailer filling system reduced operator intervention to control the upper discharge chute by half. It does this by using a high-resolution camera to automatically control the chute. Furthermore – depending on the assistance system used – actuation of the control lever is reduced by 15 to 29 % and turns of the steering wheel by 35 to 65%.
GPS PILOT CEMIS 1200 and CAM PILOT keep you safely on trackWith the GPS PILOT CEMIS 1200 and CAM PILOT automatic steering systems, JAGUAR operators can stop worrying about keeping to precisely the right track. The CAM PILOT camera system uses two 3D cameras to detect the swath to be picked up at speeds of up to 15 km/h and automatically corrects any steering errors. Meanwhile, the GPS PILOT CEMIS 1200 has an eye on the bigger picture. Using satellite signals, it automatically steers the JAGUAR along the tramlines with great efficiency – without overlapping, even on tricky, uneven terrain. The operator can keep an eye on the precision steering at all times on the 12-inch touchscreen.
CEMOS AUTO PERFORMANCE optimises the configuration of the JAGUARThe CEMOS machine optimisation system ensures that the JAGUAR is correctly set up, whatever the situation. All the operator has to do is confirm the suggested parameters displayed on the screen in the cab. CEMOS maintains a constant engine speed by automatically adjusting the engine output and ground speed to the volume harvested. When the volume increases, the assistant reduces the ground speed, and when it decreases, the speed of the JAGUAR picks up again and the engine output reduces.
Thus CEMOS ensures stress-free working in addition to a smooth harvesting process and uniform crop flow. What's more, the machine optimisation system reduces diesel consumption in the JAGUAR by up to 12% while at the same time increasing performance by up to 7% per hectare and hour.
AUTO FILL takes the pressure off the operatorFilling the transport vehicle calls for precision to minimise crop losses. This normally puts forage harvester operators under a lot of stress – because it takes enormous concentration to drive and monitor the filling at the same time. In the JAGUAR, the AUTO FILL automatic filling system takes care of the filling. A high-resolution camera mounted on the discharge chute detects the transport vehicle and gauges the fill level.
Using 3D image analysis, the automatic trailer filling system controls the discharge chute and corrects it when the position of the JAGUAR or the transport vehicle changes. The operator can monitor the fill level on the screen and intervene in the process at any time. So without leaving the cab, they can easily respond to changing conditions caused by wind and rain, for example.
Soil quality and fertility are decisive factors for agricultural success. The CLAAS JAGUAR forage harvester equipped with TERRA TRAC crawler tracks keeps the load on the soil to a minimum while providing a high level of driving comfort and ensuring optimal traction.
Farmers know how important it is to protect the soil. The CLAAS JAGUAR with its standard large tyres is already very well equipped to do so. In order to minimise ground pressure and protect the field soil structure, the JAGUAR can be equipped with an innovative tyre pressure control system for both the front and rear wheels. The system is extremely easy to use: the operator sets the desired tyre pressure in the CEBIS onboard computer before setting off. The tyre pressure adjusts automatically to the driving conditions. This means, for example, that the JAGUAR can run on the road safely and stably with high tyre pressure at up to 40 km/h. When the machine is switched over to field work, the tyre pressure is automatically reduced to the optimal level. This produces a larger contact area and significantly reduced ground pressure during harvesting.
Excellent traction, high driving comfortThe increased contact area which results from the reduced tyre pressure leads not only to improved soil protection, but also to greater traction. The reduced tyre pressure functions like a suspension system that gently absorbs bumps – thereby enhancing driving comfort too.
The perfect addition: TERRA TRAC crawler tracksThe optional TERRA TRAC crawler track system for the JAGUAR 960 and the JAGUAR 990 provides an even higher degree of soil protection, traction and driving comfort. The TERRA TRAC system, available in three different crawler track widths, increases the contact area of the front axle to a significant degree. A particular advantage of the TERRA TRAC crawler track system is that it can keep the overall width of a machine to 3.00 m. This means that no additional authorisation for overwidth running is required and represents a clear advantage compared with wheeled machines with 800-size tyres and an overall width of 3.30 m. Another benefit of TERRA TRAC is that it makes for smooth running in the field and compensates for bumps almost completely. This, in turn, has a positive effect on the quality of the work in the field and the front attachment guidance. The result is an extremely consistent stubble field while the operator in the cab appreciates a particularly smooth, judder-free driving experience.
Headland protection for grass harvestingOn top of this, TERRA TRAC is equipped with a headland protection system. This comes into its own during turning manoeuvres when it protects the grass cover by automatically reducing the risk of a shearing force being applied by the long contact area of the crawler tracks. How it works: when a given rear-axle steering angle is detected, the two support rollers of the crawler track unit are automatically pushed down. This reduces the contact area by one third, rendering it comparable to that of a tyre. This feature is enabled automatically in combination with the PICK UP front attachment so that the JAGUAR with the TERRA TRAC system is able to be used throughout the whole year.
