About CLAAS

"Everything we do must benefit the customer."

Interview with Urich Nickol, Vice President PU Greenline and Material Handling and site manager at Bad Saulgau.

What makes the CLAAS Bad Saulgau site so special?

"Our Saulgau product portfolio covers the entire harvest chain: all process steps from mowing, tedding and swathing to chopping are perfectly coordinated. From the field to the trailer, all development stages of stalked crop harvesting take place here. For our customers, this means a complete range for a specific performance class is available from a single source. Like many of my colleagues here, I too have a farming background. Everything we do must benefit our customers. This was apparent with the supply chain problems during the corona pandemic: we always managed to provide our customers with top quality goods. This is partly due to our flat hierarchies. What counts here is not the job title, but the best idea and the desire to offer our customers the best product."

CLAAS is investing 50 million euros in Saulgau with the ForageGO! Project. So what is happening exactly?

The biggest single investment in the site to date lays the foundations for further growth. The aim is to work more efficiently, increase cycle rates and introduce greater flexibility into the system – which is essential to further increase production volumes and adapt optimally to the harvest season of customers all over the world. To this end, by 2025 we will have built a new logistics centre covering an area of 9,500 m2 with photovoltaics spanning the entire roof. Production of VOLTO tedders and JAGUAR crop flow has already been transferred to a new state-of-the-art assembly hall on the premises. The new logistics centre for purchased parts is currently under construction, and the assembly line is being restructured in tandem. Each product group will have its own dedicated line for year-round production.
