State-of-the-art production in Austria

Since 2017, SCORPION telehandlers and TORION wheel loaders and telescopic wheel loaders have been manufactured in Austria to the highest quality standards at the state-of-the-art Liebherr production facilities in Telfs and Bischofshofen.  The Telfs plant, which was built in 1976, lies to the west of Innsbruck and covers an area just short of 18 hectares. Liebherr employs over 800 workers at this site. Since CLAAS and Liebherr joined forces, investment has been stepped up to modernise different areas of the production plant infrastructure, including cab pre-assembly and the construction of a new shipping hall, logistics centre and advanced administration building. The development and testing centre now covers an area of 10,800 m2

The remodelling of the telehandler assembly line in 2024 marked another milestone. Liebherr has invested 9.4 million euros in an extended, flexible assembly line with a production capacity of up to 3,000 telehandlers per year. Among other things, this included the installation of new turning gear in Pre-assembly and a new rail system in the Finishing area to move finished machines sideways. This has enabled more workstations to be installed in a short section, allowing production processes to be speeded up significantly when necessary. State-of-the-art workstations in the halls offer employees ample space to move around, are brightly lit and will be comfortably warm even on cold days thanks to newly installed infrared heaters.

Investments in recent years have seen Logistics and Assembly expand from 2,500 to over 9,400 m2.

SCORPION telehandlers and TORION and TORION SINUS wheel loaders are manufactured in Austria at the Liebherr production facilities in Telfs and Bischofshofen.

Extensive range of professional agricultural loading equipment

CLAAS currently offers three product areas to meet diverse customer requirements in the professional agricultural materials handling sector:

  • SCORPION telehandlers: Eight models with load capacities from 3.3 to 6 t and 6 to 10 m max. lift height, driven by fuel-efficient 143 and 156-hp engines and fully automatic continuously variable hydrostatic VARIPOWER drives. Intelligent operator assistance systems for loading operations and vehicle control are available for all models.
  • TORION telescopic wheel loader: the TORION 738T features a 3.8 t tip load, 4.96 m high bucket pivot point and impressive manoeuvrability thanks to its unique SINUS steering: a combination of damped central articulated joint and co-steering rear axle for operating in the tightest of spaces. Operator assistance systems ease the workload during repeated loading cycles, while a top speed of 40 km/h guarantees even more productivity.
  • TORION wheel loaders: four series and eleven models from 46 to 252 hp with operating weights of 4.6 to 20.3 t and a tip load of 3 to 12.7 t. Cutting-edge operator assistance systems with a wealth of automatic functions are available for the medium and large series. Efficient hydrostatic or split-power drives ensure economical, resource-friendly operation. Some models such as the TORION 1611P and TORION 1913 are equipped with DYNAMIC POWER for silage clamp work.
