Launch of the battery-electric TORION 537e SINUS from CLAAS

CLAAS unveiled its first battery-electric agricultural wheel loader, the TORION 537e SINUS, at Agritechnica 2025. This machine, which falls within the six-tonne class, combines the unique advantages of the SINUS series with a low-noise and locally emission-free electric drive, whilst delivering the full performance of a comparable model with a conventional drive. Thanks to these features, the TORION 537e SINUS is particularly well suited for use in livestock farming, where a quiet and pollution-free environment significantly enhances animal welfare and productivity. Operators and farm staff also benefit from the low noise emissions and the locally emission-free technology. Furthermore, maintenance requirements are reduced, as fewer operating fluids need to be checked and replaced or topped up at regular intervals.

The new TORION 537e SINUS (on the right in the picture) now complements CLAAS’s comprehensive range of wheel loaders. It is particularly suitable for locally emission-free, low-noise use in livestock farming and, as a commercial vehicle with a climate-friendly drive system, is eligible for subsidies in some countries.

Long running time, short charging time: lithium-ion battery with on-board charger
In the TORION 537e SINUS, a battery-electric drive system replaces the diesel engine and hydrostat found in the otherwise identical TORION 537 SINUS. The lithium-ion battery, featuring a modular design, has a standard capacity of 32.2 kWh and an optional capacity of 64.4 kWh at an average voltage of 322 V. During operation, it provides up to 30 kW for the drive system and 15 kW for the hydraulic pump. In normal operation, this enables running times of 8 to 16 hours, depending on the integrated battery capacity. When braking via the drive system and when travelling downhill, the energy released is recovered through regenerative braking and fed back into the battery.

The lithium-ion battery, featuring a modular design, is available with a capacity of either 32.2 or 64.4 kW. This enables operating times of up to 16 hours in everyday use. The integrated on-board charging system allows for quick and easy charging and top-up charging.

Depending on the on-board charger and the available connection power, the battery can be fully charged in just one and a half to three hours. The integrated on-board charging system also enables fast charging without the need for additional external equipment – ensuring maximum flexibility when charging and making top-ups simple. The interface to the charger is easily accessible under a flap in the access area of the TORION 537e SINUS.

Uncompromising handling performance with smart assistance systems
When it comes to performance parameters such as breakaway force and cycle times, the TORION 537e SINUS is just as uncompromising as its combustion-engine-powered sister model, the TORION 537 SINUS. With an operating weight of 5,910 kg, the breakaway force of the Z-bar kinematics is 48 kN. Thanks to the hydraulic pump delivering 75 l/min at 240 bar, this manoeuvrable loader completes the lifting, tipping and lowering cycles in 4.9 seconds, 1.7 seconds and 3.5 seconds respectively – times that can be seamlessly integrated into the loading cycle thanks to the superbly tuned working hydraulics. The maximum height of the bucket pivot point with the mast fully raised is 3,215 mm.

The unique SMART LOADING assistance system, fitted as standard, supports the operator during repetitive loading tasks. It precisely coordinates all functions that contribute to optimising the loading cycles. This includes programmable lifting heights and lowering heights, as well as automatic bucket return for faster and more precise loading cycles.

The electric drive system, with its immediate power delivery, rapid acceleration and standard top speed of 30 km/h, also contributes to the machine’s impressive loading performance.

Agile and stable thanks to SINUS steering
When working in confined spaces such as buildings, stables and farmyards, the TORION 537e SINUS benefits from its unique SINUS steering system. The combination of articulated steering with a 30-degree angle of articulation and self-steering rear axle with a maximum steering angle of 25 degrees results in a minimum turning radius of just 3,520 mm (outer edge of tyres). This steering concept also improves stability and results in a very favourable ratio of operating weight to tipping load (3,750 kg when fully articulated and steered).

The unique SINUS steering system, combining articulated steering with a self-steering rear axle, combines outstanding manoeuvrability with maximum tip-over stability.

Quiet, comfortable and easy to manoeuvre
Thanks to its electric drive, the TORION 537e SINUS operates noticeably more quietly than its sister model, the TORION 737 SINUS with a diesel engine. With a noise level of 65 dB(A) in the cab, however, the wheel loader is not only pleasant for the driver to operate during day-to-day use. The low noise levels are also a positive feature outside the cab.

The spacious, ergonomic comfort cab offers excellent working conditions thanks to its well laid out workstation and plenty of head and legroom. All-round visibility is excellent thanks to the generous window areas. The height-adjustable terminal with touchscreen to the driver’s right provides a quick overview of all machine and job-related data. While the lithium-ion battery is charging, the terminal displays the percentage of the charge and an estimated charging time, enabling optimal planning of work operations.

Digital machine and process management in CLAAS connect
Using an existing or new CLAAS connect ID, users of the TORION 537e SINUS have mobile access to the machine’s location and operating parameters. Furthermore, the maintenance history is documented in CLAAS connect, and service work can be planned proactively and efficiently in collaboration with the relevant CLAAS service and sales partner. The stored digital operating manual, the lubricant guide for the correct oils and greases, and access to the CLAAS Parts Shop – which guarantees the right wear and spare parts – save time and thus simplify machine management and day-to-day operations.

Hedging costs proactively: MAXI CARE Focus and MAXI CARE Flex / Protect for up to eight years or 8,000 operating hours.
Professional farmers, biogas plant operators and contractors now want to secure their machinery costs in advance. With MAXI CARE Focus, a component warranty is now also available for the TORION 537e SINUS, fully tailored to customer needs. For the TORION 537e SINUS, the warranty covers the high-voltage battery for a period of five years or 6,000 operating hours – at no extra cost. Furthermore, a residual capacity of at least 80% for the high-voltage battery is guaranteed at the end of the MAXI CARE Focus term, provided that a maintenance contract with a term of at least 5 years is taken out at the same time.

MAXI CARE Flex and MAXI CARE Protect go a step further: these warranty extensions cover all claims included in the statutory warranty for a period of up to eight years or 8,000 operating hours – including the cost of genuine CLAAS spare parts, consumables and repair work.

Subsidies in the pipeline
Depending on the country and federal state, subsidies are available for the purchase or hire of agricultural machinery with climate-friendly drive systems, as well as for the installation of charging points. In Germany, one such scheme is the Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank’s funding programme, launched on the initiative of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Home Affairs (BMLEH), which takes the form of low-interest loans with terms ranging from three to a maximum of 10 years – applications for this scheme have been suspended since 18 June 2026.

There is also a moratorium on applications for the ‘Federal Energy Efficiency Programme’. Applications are expected to reopen in the fourth quarter of 2026.
