Efficient performance, smart comfort and uncompromising versatility: the new AXION 8 CMATIC from CLAAS.

As the successor to the AXION 800 large tractors, CLAAS will launch the new AXION 8 CMATIC series in summer 2026. The three large tractors, with maximum power output ranging from 240 to 290 hp (264 to 313 hp with DYNAMIC POWER), take comfort, automation and connectivity to a new level, combining tried-and-tested technology with new, unique features and functions for efficient and economical use in fields, on grassland and on the road. Further optimized and well tried and tested hardware – such as the engine, transmission and axles – are combined with the new DYNAMIC POWER power management system, a completely redesigned cab, a new electronics infrastructure and new, intelligent driver assistance systems, right through to driver-monitored autonomy. Thanks to new tyre options, CEMOS AUTO POWERTRAIN with DYNAMIC POWER, AUTO DROOP and the innovative, Agritechnica award-winning adaptive driveline management system, CLAAS connect connectivity and the CTIC tyre pressure control system, the new AXION 8 CMATIC is always optimally equipped for any task.

In addition to their technical merits, these agile large tractors impress with individual MAXI CARE service contracts valid for up to 8 years and extended service intervals, as well as the new MAXI CARE FOCUS component warranty covering five years or 5,000 operating hours.

Efficient, reliable and easy to maintain: six-cylinder engine with DYNAMIC POWER power management and adaptive AUTO DROOP pressure control.
All AXION 8 CMATIC models are powered by the latest-generation NEF 6.7 six-cylinder engine from FPT, with a displacement of 6.7 l, a maximum power output of 264 to 313 hp and a maximum torque of 1,132 to 1,282 Nm. Peak power and maximum torque are available across a wide rev range and even at low engine speeds. The new DYNAMIC POWER dynamic power management system, part of the new CEMOS AUTO POWERTRAIN, intelligently and fully automatically adapts engine power to every operating situation and distributes it via the gearbox, power take-off shafts, hydraulics and auxiliary consumers precisely where it is needed at any given moment. The system continuously analyses electrical power requirements, optimises the settings and thus ensures high productivity and low fuel consumption at both full and partial load, thereby reducing operating costs. In combination with the CMATIC continuously variable transmission and AUTO DROOP (also part of CEMOS AUTO POWERTRAIN), which adaptively and automatically adjusts engine droop to conditions of use, this delivers more power with lower fuel consumption – without any extra effort.

During idling, the engine speed is reduced to 650 rpm – this saves fuel, provides relief to the environment and lowers the noise level when the tractor is stationary.

For easy and effective clearing, the cooling packages can be simply folded open; a reversible fan is fitted an option.[PF1.1] During operation, the optional reversible fan keeps the radiators free of dirt and dust. The engines are approved for operation with hydrotreated vegetable oils (HVO), which enables a reduction in the CO₂ footprint of up to 90 per cent.

The low-maintenance, cost-optimised six-cylinder engine features DYNAMIC POWER and AUTO DROOP as components of the new CEMOS AUTO POWERTRAIN – this enables the AXION 8 CMATIC to automatically adapt to changing operating conditions and load profiles, optimising performance and efficiency adaptively and dynamically in line with current operational requirements.

With a view to cost-effectiveness and total cost of ownership (TCO), maintenance intervals have been extended, amongst other things. For example, oil changes are now scheduled every 750 operating hours instead of every 600, and the replacement intervals for the most important filters have been extended by 150 to 300 operating hours.

Smart power train with AUTO LOAD ANTICIPATION for maximum performance and driver comfort.
The AXION 8 CMATIC large tractors also rely on tried-and-tested, mature hardware when it comes to the continuously variable, power-split transmission. The electronic drivetrain management system, however, has been completely redeveloped and enables tuning optimised for performance, comfort and efficiency – with an even higher level of automation. This means that even less experienced drivers can operate at the highest levels of performance and efficiency across all areas of application. Depending on the tyres fitted, 40 km/h is achieved at an efficient 1,300 engine revolutions per minute, whilst 50 km/h is reached at just 1,400 rpm.

Just as with the larger AXION 9 CMATIC, drivers can use the new vehicle drive controller to switch smoothly between driving directions, as well as between pedal mode, joystick mode and PTO mode without any changes in engine speed or vehicle speed. In every driving mode, override via the ground drive pedal or the CMOTION is possible at any time without interruption – for truly stepless driving of the highest standard.

Durable and always optimally tuned – whether in the field or on the road: the CMATIC continuously variable transmission with high-end vehicle drive controller and automatic trailer overrun brake.

Pioneering is the innovative adaptive drivetrain management system – awarded a silver medal at Agritechnica – featuring the AUTO LOAD ANTICIPATION function, which continuously and proactively optimises engine speed and gear shifting based on a self-learning algorithm and various efficiency maps for the engine, continuously variable transmission, hydraulics and auxiliary units. Thanks to this ‘artificial intelligence’, load spikes – such as when lowering an implement into the ground – are detected in advance, and the engine speed is proactively increased, with gear shifting adjusted accordingly, before the load spike occurs. This ensures that handling remains stable even during dynamic changes and prevents drops in engine speed. Further functions of this innovative technology regulate engine speed and gear shifting depending on load, driving speed and hydraulic demand. This ensures that the required power is delivered under all conditions of use whilst minimising fuel consumption. The result is highly dynamic yet fuel-efficient driving performance, without the need for manual input or action from the driver.

Having been awarded a silver Agritechnica Award in 2025, the new AXION 8 CMATIC now also features the pioneering, AI-supported adaptive powertrain management system with ‘AUTO LOAD ANTICIPATION’. Further components of CEMOS AUTO POWERTRAIN include driver assistance systems such as DYNAMIC POWER and AUTO DROOP which provide relief to the driver whilst enhancing performance and economy.

In addition, CEMOS DIALOG provides a further driver assistance and machine optimisation tool. Depending on operating conditions such as soil type, working depth and other parameters, CEMOS DIALOG recommends the optimum ballasting and tyre pressure for the front and rear axles to the driver.

Greater safety and efficiency during transport operations.
The automatic trailer overrun brake, a feature designed to provide even greater safety when driving on roads with trailers and attached implements, is also fitted to the AXION 8 CMATIC. A new feature is the option to have the AXION 8 fitted ex-works with NOKIAN Soil King VF tyres (rear axle up to 710 70/R42 with a diameter of 2.07 m), particularly for applications involving a high proportion of transport work, in order to further optimise efficiency and economy during road journeys.

A quiet, spacious cab for relaxed working days: a quiet premium cab with generous space and a premium seat that rotates through 50 degrees.
The completely newly developed cab, which was introduced at Agritechnica with the AXION 9 CMATIC and is now also featured on the new AXION 8 CMATIC, embeds a high standard in the 250 to 300 hp tractor class. With a volume of around three cubic metres, it offers a new sense of space and plenty of room for premium driver’s seats, a passenger seat and storage compartments, as well as unrestricted legroom even for taller drivers.

Thanks to carefully selected materials and high-quality finishes, the cab exudes a genuine premium feel. Premium driver’s seats – optionally available with seat ventilation, seat heater and a massage function – ensure that even long working days pass without stress or strain. Thanks to the wide swivel angle of up to 40 degrees to the right (and 10 degrees to the left, to make getting in and out even easier), you can keep an eye on work equipment without straining, whilst keeping your legs fully extended and resting comfortably on new foot rests on the right-hand A pillar.

Inside the cab, features such as a driver’s seat with a massage function and the high-end multimedia system ensure long, relaxed and fatigue-free working days.

In addition, the quality of work or operational progress can be monitored using three integrated, high-resolution digital cameras with zoom and wide-angle capabilities. A particular highlight is the ability to zoom in and out on high-resolution camera images on the new CEBIS connect terminal and to pan the camera in the required direction with a swipe of the finger. The camera integrated between the front headlights ensures greater safety when exiting blind access roads or entering junctions. It also makes it easier to attach front implements or front ballast weights. A further two external camera connections are available for attachments – such as potato harvesters or auger wagons.

At just 67 dB(A), the new cab of the AXION 8 CMATIC is one of the quietest on the market. New storage compartments also provide non-slip, roll-proof storage space for documents, snacks and drinks, as well as work boots or, for example, lower and upper link balls.

The ELECTROPILOT joystick to the right of the CMOTION allows up to 30 hydraulic and ISOBUS functions to be programmed. During field work, the optional dynamic steering reduces the driver’s workload. The number of steering wheel turns required between one steering limit and the other is roughly halved – a noticeable relief, particularly during tight turning manoeuvres at the headland.

The newly designed mechanical four-point suspension, engineered for durability and featuring angled shock absorbers, reduces vibrations without compromising suspension and damping comfort. It is also optimally tuned to work in conjunction with the revised front axle suspension.

A new 360-degree LED lighting concept with up to 22 LED lights delivering a maximum of 56,000 lumens ensures a wide field of vision even during night shifts, thereby enhancing safety and enabling the driver to maintain optimal visual control over the quality of the work.
What’s more, access to the four-post cab has been optimised and has the widest width in this tractor class. A fold-away access ladder on the right, handholds and handrails on the cab make it easier to clean the side windows. The windscreen wiper covers a 280-degree sweeping area, thereby guaranteeing the best possible forward visibility at all times.

Intuitive CEBIS connect with integrated GPS PILOT for maximum flexibility.
Control of the most important functions is clearly organised and centralised in the control armrest, featuring the CMOTION drive lever and integrated CEBIS connect. Alongside the 12-inch main screen, all information and applications can also be displayed on an additional 12-inch touchscreen terminal, and all functions can be set and configured on both terminals. You can switch between the two terminals as you wish – whichever suits the task at hand best. This means that the GPS PILOT steering system can now be displayed both on the CEBIS connect main screen in the armrest and on the additional 12-inch terminal.

A further, height-adjustable terminal in the right-hand A pillar displays machine parameters such as speed, fuel consumption, power take-off shafts and the hydraulic control circuits. CEBIS connect can therefore be used – with either one or two displays – to fully support the work process with implements, as well as for automated steering, ISOBUS applications or activated work orders with and without Precision Farming, such as application based on application maps and for documentation.

Headland management and tramline management are further automated.
The AUTO CSM function of the GPS PILOT steering system in CEBIS connect provides significant relief to the driver by automatically triggering the individually programmable sequences of the CSM headland management system when entering or leaving the headland. This achieves a new level of automation and thus provides relief to the driver.

For precise track guidance with the GPS PILOT in CEBIS connect, the optimal reference lines can be planned in advance in CLAAS connect based on the field boundaries, then used and shared with just a few clicks – for example, from the EVION, TRION or LEXION combine harvester when leaving a swath to the following AXION 8 CMATIC with square baler.

The new automatic reference track change function automatically detects the appropriate or logical reference track based on the vehicle’s position and direction of travel, and switches automatically between different reference tracks. This means that, for example, when switching to headland reference tracks or when working out wedges with a different reference track, the driver does not need to intervene to switch these manually – a significant reduction in workload.

AUTO CSM and the automatic reference track change also provide relief to the driver during the green forage harvest with large-scale mowers.

From machine management and fleet monitoring to Precision Farming: the AXION 8 CMATIC is digitally connected via CLAAS connect.
From machine configuration, purchase processing, access to product documentation and the lubricant guide, through to maintenance planning and documentation, right up to multi-manufacturer fleet management, application maps and other smart farming applications: Depending on the licence, CLAAS connect also enables comprehensive connectivity for the new AXION 8 CMATIC, with automated documentation and access from the office or via a mobile device whilst on the move. Basic features such as machine position, machine performance data, the lubricant guide and direct access to the CLAAS Parts Shop for ordering suitable wear and spare parts can be supplemented by the Farm connect, Fleet connect and Field connect licences:

  • Clear job management: Jobs are conveniently created in CLAAS connect and accessed on the CEBIS connect terminal. Jobs can be documented and managed directly on the machine.
  • Real-time information: Machine position and status, as well as current machine data, settings and performance figures, can be viewed on the go from anywhere. This enables, for example, easy navigation to the machine’s location. Furthermore, whilst jobs are being carried out, CLAAS connect informs the user how long the work in the field is expected to take – regardless of how many machines are currently working in the field.
  • Analysing and optimising: Detailed analyses enable optimisations and comparisons between different machines of the same design within the vehicle fleet – particularly important for contractors and large-scale farms.

If a CLAAS connect ID is already in use on the farm, the AXION 8 CMATIC is simply added to the existing machine fleet and is then connected free of charge for an initial period of 5 years with a single-machine connect licence. If the farm does not yet have a CLAAS connect ID, one can be created upon purchase of the tractor.

From machine management to Precision Farming: CLAAS connect opens up a wide range of digital possibilities for the AXION 8 CMATIC too, making it easier and more efficient to carry out and document work. Remote Display View allows the CLAAS connect tractor terminal or the Service Office to be displayed remotely, enabling remote support for process optimisation or service-related issues.

Driver-monitored Autonomy: Fully automated task execution with the VCU.
With the XERION 12, the AXION 9 CMATIC and now also the new AXION 8 CMATIC, CLAAS is taking the next step towards Autonomy. By using a special VCU (Vehicle Control Unit) pre-programmed work orders can be processed fully automatically. To do this, the VCU is simply connected to the AXION 8 CMATIC’s ISOBUS. The prepared work orders then can later be started with just a single tap. The tractor and implement then carry out the field work completely autonomously, including automated steering, obstacle avoidance, headland management and, for application equipment, site-specific rate control via the application map entered in CLAAS connect.  Whilst the task is being carried out automatically, the status and live performance data can be viewed at any time on authorised devices linked to the relevant CLAAS connect ID.

Once a work order has been completed, the automatically recorded data is stored and simultaneously displayed in CLAAS connect, where it can be used for further analysis and for billing and documentation purposes.

With driver-monitored Autonomy, the driver remains in the cab but can focus primarily on monitoring the quality of the work and ensuring the tractor and implement are performing optimally. Furthermore, the driver is able to override the task at any time – for example, in the event of unforeseeable obstacles such as moist, impassable areas of the field, broken branches at the edge of the field, or stones exposed during previous tillage.
