The AE50 awards of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ASABE) are given each year to 50 products in recognition of their outstanding innovation, significant engineering advancement and impact for the markets they serve. In addition to six other CLAAS machines and technologies – TRION 740, CEMOS for Tractors, DISCO 9700 RC AUTO SWATHER, the double roller drive for the DISCO 3600 FRC, VARIANT SMART DENSITY and the new VARIANT net wrapping – the new XERION 12 high-horsepower tractors also received an award this year. "We are delighted to have won a prestigious AE50 Award for our new XERION 12 Series," said Dr Johannes Weisbrodt, Senior Vice President Product Unit System Tractors. "After receiving two coveted awards at Agritechnica, this award is another fantastic endorsement of our XERION Development Team and their years of hard work, and underlines the series' innovative approach, with numerous features unique to this performance class."
During its six-year development, the new XERION 12 Series was intensively tested in a range of different areas on North American and European farms. Innovations such as the low-speed concept 2.0, robust, user-friendly CMATIC continuously variable transmission, top speed of 40 km/h for the TERRA TRAC and 50 km/h for the TRAC, powerful low-speed hydraulic system, spacious cab with uninterrupted all-round view and four-point cab suspension as well as the new shock-absorbing TERRA TRAC crawler tracks are designed to make work more efficient, productive, profitable and comfortable for farmers. The unique XERION concept featuring a strong central frame with two steered axles ensures unmatched steering precision, exceptional strength and balanced weight distribution for uncompromising traction and maximum soil protection.
There are two models in the XERION 12 Series: the 12.590 and the 12.650. Both are available in the TERRA TRAC version with triangular crawler track units, while the TRAC wheeled version featuring the largest twin wheel combination available for four-wheel drive tractors is available in selected markets. North America, Europe, Australia and South America are the main markets.
The award ceremony took place at the ASABE Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference from 11 to 14 February 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky (USA).
