With the GPS PILOT automatic steering system, your machine will seem like it's running on rails: always on the right track, using the full working width with no overlapping. There's no need for a long induction course. You'll be surprised how easy it is to operate an automatic steering system using the intuitive CLAAS user interface.

ISOBUS implement control via the CEMIS 1200 terminal.

ISOBUS Universal Terminal (ISO UT).

The ISO UT implement view can be displayed in the main work screen or in the smaller implement screen. This enables you to customise the display settings to suit your needs. The AUX-N allows functions to be assigned to physical function keys, for example on the CLAAS multifunction control lever.

CLAAS POWER MANAGEMENT.

Power and ease of handling make the ARION more versatile than ever. The intelligent CLAAS POWER MANAGEMENT (CPM) electronic control system delivers an additional 10 hp in the 470-440 models, e.g. for PTO or transport work. This increases the maximum output to 155 hp. Combined with an unladen weight of just 5.3 t (ARION 470), this gives the tractor a power-to-weight ratio of only 34 kg/hp.

Steering angle-dependent four-wheel drive.

More agile than ever.

In addition to speed-dependent automatic four-wheel drive, the ARION 400 features a steering angle-dependent mode which you can deploy as and when required.
During field work when soil conditions are dry, steering angle-dependent automatic four-wheel drive can reduce the turning circle by up to 8% (shown in green on the diagram), allowing you to negotiate the headland more efficiently and reduce tyre wear. It also enables you to go easier on the grass sward and your crop during grass harvesting and field work.

Push the boundaries.

Hydraulic output of up to 150 l/min.

Load-sensing systems which deliver a hydraulic output of 110 l/min or 150 l/min are available for the CIS and CIS+ version of the ARION. The variable hydraulic pumps supply only the volume of oil that is actually needed for the task, avoiding any surplus.

The 150 l/min circuit is enough to satisfy even large hydraulic consumers such as pneumatic seed drills effortlessly and powerfully. And when you don't need maximum hydraulic power, you can drive the ARION 400 at reduced engine speed and save valuable fuel.

High specification.

Rear linkage.

The electronic rear linkage has a maximum lifting capacity of 4.50, 5.75 or 6.25 t, making it capable of handling any implement. The external controls for the rear linkage, an electronic spool valve and PTO are conveniently located on both mudguards. Practical holders for the lower link balls are also provided at the rear.

Field report – ARION 470

"I went for a test drive and bought one on the spot."

For Christophe Dejonghe, the CLAAS ARION 470 has become the mainstay of his 100-hectare farm. Its comfort and agility combined with 155 hp makes the ARION the perfect machine for his work.

At his two sites he grows around 35 hectares of wheat, 20 hectares of potatoes and between six and eight hectares of peas. On top of that, he has 170 dairy and beef cows. To manage all this, Christophe needs compact yet powerful machines that can reduce his workload. For this, and to shuttle the ten kilometre stretch between the two sites, he relies on the ARION 470.

The farmer already knew a thing or two about CLAAS tractors before making the purchase – he's been driving an ARION in the 400 series for years. "But I wanted more power and responsiveness," said the 52-year-old. Christophe didn't take long to reach a decision. After a short demonstration of the ARION 470, his mind was made up. "I went for a test drive and bought one on the spot."

Today Christophe uses his ARION 470 mainly for transport in combination with an 18-tonne tipper, a three-axle bale trailer and a fertiliser spreader – work previously done by a 6-cylinder tractor. With the increased power of the new ARION 470, Christophe can also use it for deep tillage in his potato fields.

When you're hard at work in the field each day, you know that power is not everything. What Christophe likes best about his CLAAS ARION 470 is comfort and ease of operation. "I really like the 24-gear HEXASHIFT transmission.

The tractor shifts so smoothly – especially the reverser." And the innovative front axle suspension makes driving the ARION 470 much more comfortable, particularly when Christophe is moving between sites: the machine travels effortlessly at 45 km/h on the road.

The high level of comfort and reliability have convinced the farmer hands down: "It's a very good fit for my farm. That's why I decided to buy a second ARION 400."
