LEXION 8900.

More than a machine:

Real stories.

Business/farm profile

  • Johann Rieve, LDM Rieve GbR
  • Location: Prohn, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany
  • Type of farm: arable and dairy
  • Farm size: 3,900 ha
  • Crops: oilseed rape, wheat, barley, sugar beet, maize silage

Machines:

Extreme weather conditions require large, efficient machines.

For Johann Rieve, there are some advantages to farming on the Baltic coast. The climate conditions are ideal for growing cereals and rapeseed, and the soil is easy to work. But it's not all rosy. "The weather conditions are always more extreme here," he explains. "Heavy rainfall and dry spells in early summer shorten the time frames for fieldwork. We depend on larger, more efficient machines to make optimum use of these short windows of opportunity." This is where his CLAAS LEXION combine harvesters with VARIO cutterbar come into play. For him, they are more than just machines.

"The demands made on combine harvesters have risen enormously in recent years."

Rieve has been using CLAAS combine harvesters since 1995.

Johann Rieve has seen for himself how the performance of the LEXION has steadily increased from one generation to the next. After all, he has been using the high-performance CLAAS combine harvester since it was first launched in 1995. Today he deploys two LEXION 770 and two newly acquired LEXION 8900 in his fields. Combined with the powerful, rugged VARIO 1230 cutterbar. "The fields are bigger, the timeframes shorter, but the number of machines on the field remains the same," he concludes.

Continuously improving separation efficiency.

For Johann Rieve, the LEXION is more than a machine – it stands for steady throughput capacity under all operating conditions, durability, reliability and high seasonal performance. He is particularly impressed by continuous improvements to separation efficiency in recent years.

Rieve uses CEMOS AUTOMATIC.

He is particularly impressed by features such as CEMOS AUTOMATIC, which optimises the machine settings, and the CRUISE PILOT, which maintains the ideal harvesting speed at all times. These functions can be conveniently operated in the CEBIS. Johann Rieve also rates the powerful motors, which deliver sufficient output to spread the straw effectively even under adverse conditions. "Distributing the straw is not that easy in our coastal location due to the strong side wind," he grins. "But the LEXION copes admirably."
