CLAAS LEXION 8900: full power on large fields

LEXION 8900.

More than a machine:

Real stories.

Real results.

Business/farm profile:

  • Lutz Scheibler & Ole Klamroth, Agrar Union Poppendorf
  • Location: Poppendorf, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany
  • Farm type: arable
  • Farm size: 5,500 ha
  • Crops: wheat, barley, oilseed rape, peas, sugar beet

Machines: 4 LEXION 8900 with VARIO 1380

Work large-scale fields as economically as possible with the LEXION 8900.

"For us, it was an obvious decision to buy the LEXION," explains managing director Lutz Scheibler. He has run the farm since 1997 and grows cereal and sugar beet on his 5,500 hectares. "The LEXION is the most powerful machine on the market and enables us to work large fields economically." As farm manager Ole Klamroth sees it, the outstanding reliability and performance of the CLAAS LEXION combined with the powerful VARIO 1380 cutterbars are key to efficient cereal harvesting. "We can rely on the machines and make optimal use of the harvesting window," he explains.

"The LEXION is the most powerful machine on the market."

His employees particularly appreciate the CEMOS AUTOMATIC operator assistance system, which optimises the machine settings automatically. At first the drivers were sceptical as to whether an automated system would really be of service. But they soon changed their minds after a demonstration. "The assistance system achieves a level that we would struggle to match," admits Lutz Scheibler. And there's no question that it makes life easier for the team – less time making readjustments and more time focussing on the harvesting process itself. "Our machine operators actually use all the systems installed," adds Ole Klamroth.

Productivity up by 15 to 20% compared with previous models.

The long-lasting durability and high resale value of LEXION combine harvesters were also a key consideration for the Agrar Union Poppendorf. Its robust construction and proactive maintenance planning ensure that the LEXION remains extremely economical throughout its service life and that costs are predictable. Put simply, the CLAAS LEXION is more than a machine. Even in the first season using the new machines, Ole Klamroth reckoned productivity increased by 15 to 20% compared with the previous models. A good cut and uniform spread of straw across the entire working width are essential for the farm. "That's really important for us, because we want to 'keep it short and simple' for all subsequent passes too," adds Ole Klamroth.

Employees love driving the CLAAS LEXION.

The CLAAS LEXION has proved to be a formidable machine and valuable member of the team at the Agrar Union Poppendorf. More than a machine, it is a reliable partner that can cope with whatever conditions the North German coast has to offer.

Ultimately, in Lutz Scheibler's view there is one simple reason why Agrar Union Poppendorf keeps returning to CLAAS machines: "Our employees love driving the combine harvesters. And nowadays, good employees are harder to find than good machines."
