CLAAS machines in Switzerland will in future have an even greater foundation

Bern / Oberbipp;    A new, large Swiss agricultural engineering company is currently being formed. Service Company AG, Oberbipp and Landtechnik Zollikofen (a division of fenaco Agrartechnik, Bern) want to work together as partners in Swiss agriculture. The most important business area is the maintenance of the whole product range of the agricultural machinery manufacturer CLAAS.

On 1st January 2010, fenaco has acquired the share capital of Serco and continues to manage the company as a subsidiary under the new name of Serco Landtechnik AG, headquartered in Oberbipp. Christian Stähli, owner of Serco and a long-time importer of CLAAS machinery, will also remain responsible for sales in the new company during the starting phase.

Continuity and partnership

Christian Stähli says: "We want this cooperation to set an example of continuity and continued working partnership with agricultural clients.” The declared aim of the merger, he adds, is to make use of the resulting synergy potential.

The implementation of structural innovations will be developed in detail in project groups during the next few months. He asserts that it is already certain that the merger of Serco and the Landtechnik Zollikofen division to create Serco Landtechnik AG will not result in any job losses in either company. Previous employees will be able to be offered enough jobs in their original fields of activity.

Highly efficient in modern agriculture

The integration of various fields of activity into the new Serco Landtechnik AG will create a highly efficient import company at the central location of Oberbipp. This will underline CLAAS's position on the Swiss market. For Christian Stähli, who has been supplying the agricultural sector with modern technology for many years, the merger is an ideal solution to planning his future succession and to ensure the continuity of his company.

With the modern infrastructure adopted in Oberhipp and the CLAAS Premium Longliner product range, fenaco has strengthened its position as a competent and efficient partner for farmers and farm contractors. This marks a clear move towards a future-oriented Swiss agriculture.
