One example is the 25,000 hectare Svobodnoe TOO farm in the Maximowskoje region, 340 km north east of the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. Conditions are similar at the Rodina TOO farm, 60 km south west of Astana. The total surface area of the farm is 63,000 hectares, of which around 48,000 is cultivated. Rodina TOO is part of the Kazakhstan pilot scheme for establishing large, new dairy farms using modern technology and foreign breeds with high outputs. Around 15 days are available for drilling work in the spring. Rodina TOO uses five XERION tractors to pull Horsch Agrosoyuz 12 m air seeders.
