Engine / Drive

Strong to the core.

The COUGAR’s modern drive concept is best illustrated by its amazing terrain capability, its impressive performance over large acreages (22 ha per hour) and its roadworthy design. Its powerful six-cylinder engine from Mercedes Benz combines with an infinitely variable electronic drive to provide maximum performance. With operating speeds of up to 21 km/h, the COUGAR can offer maximum cutting speeds, whilst its road speed of 40 km/h minimises the time taken to move between fields.

Powerful.

The enormous drive unit from Mercedes Benz supplies a powerful and reliable output of 350 KW/480 HP, making the COUGAR suitable for daily use. The electronic injection system provides optimum response times and low fuel consumption. Inspection intervals are very long at 500 hours. A flexible connection between the engine and the chassis minimises noise and vibrations. As a result you can obtain irrepressible power, without reducing driving comfort.

Powerful air flow.

Mowing returns that collect in front of the radiator are blown away by the COUGAR’s returns fan. You maintain complete control, either manually at the press of a button or automatically according to the intervals programmed in CEBIS.

Good cooling is vital.

The radiators on the COUGAR have been arranged on top of one another for efficient cooling power under any harvesting conditions. Their low air speeds and large sieve surface areas result in less contamination. A cleaning rotor, which is driven by the air flow through the fan, prevents contamination of the radiator fins.

Hydrostatic where necessary, mechanical where possible.

Effective conversion of power into mowing performance without power losses: two parallel hydrostatic engines transmit the power mechanically to a two-speed gearbox. From there it continues via universal drive shafts to the axles. Thanks to the latest PTO shaft technology, the power is transmitted to the mower units without hardly any losses. They are also protected by clutches. The electronic ground drive gives you two variably adjustable speeds: mowing at 0-21 km/h and transport at 0-40 km/h. The automatic engine gas control during road transport helps you save fuel and the driving noise is minimised.

Elastic drive.

A stable V-belt directly and reliably transmits the power to the drive on the outrigger mowing unit. Thanks to the flexible connection, the drive engages smoothly without damaging the machine.

Innovative power transmission.

State-of-the-art PTO shaft technology ensures reliable power transmission during long maintenance intervals of 250 hours. Each HP is utilised valuably and the driving power is used to full effect. As a result, you can achieve amazing outputs.
